Firstly, thanks for reading and congratulations on your engagement! As you begin your wedding planning process, we’ve scoured the web and rounded up the top hottest trends we see in the industry for 2018. To summarise, this year is all about expressing the bride and groom’s individuality in a sophisticated, more natural way to let their personalities shine through.
Scroll down to find out what we’ve uncovered:
1. KEEP IT SIMPLE
Over the top, extravagant weddings are on the way out this year. We’ve noticed more and more couples requesting for rustic, bohemian concepts when picking out their wedding stationery over elaborate, fairy-tale themes. This is good news for couples that are on a budget, as with a few details you can convey the vibe and set the tone of your big day. Minimalistic is a keyword here, with everything from modern wedding gowns and chic wedding invitations becoming trendier these days.
2. ORGANIC, TEXTURED ELEMENTS
Natural, personalised touches go a long way when it comes to planning your décor, stationery, dress, and more. Calligraphy is one popular trend we see growing in 2018. Unique textures, such as marble, have been featured on everything from invitations to menus and place cards.
We saw a lot of brides choosing blush and rose gold for their stationery to match their theme, which a lovely way to add a natural, romantic element, or translucent touches like Lucite or acrylic invitations for an ethereal feel.
Popular themes like “botanical” and “tropical” were huge in 2017 and we foresee that they will continue to be a major hit in 2018. The ever-popular “rustic” theme is turning into something more “woodsy” with brides opting for more wood and less burlap elements.
3. STARRY DETAILS
This is your chance to add a little glam to your wedding, without overwhelming it. We’ve already seen a lot of “Stardust” themed wedding stationery and souvenirs. Think gold foil dipped invites, celestial-themed motifs, string lights, and muted palettes that let those dazzling elements shine through. Especially since Pantone announced the official Colour of the Year is “Ultra-Violet,” we think this theme couldn’t be more fitting.
4. MOODY PALETTES:
Heads up: dark, moody colours and rich shades are definitely trending this year. With more couples choosing indoor venues, like industrial lofts and wineries, the palette is one way to showcase their bold personalities. Think rich burgundy, mauves, dark greys, and emerald greens. Navy blue has become the new black. Especially if you’re having a formal wedding, navy blue is a fine choice that pairs well with many other colours and themes. Combine with lush greenery for a natural touch or let these dark colours be the standout feature; the options and combinations are limitless!
